Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

I am trained to offer the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) through Unyte Health, a gentle evidence based listening programme designed to support regulation of the nervous system.

SSP uses specially filtered music to support the body in shifting towards a state of greater safety, calm, and connection. It is informed by Polyvagal Theory, which explores how our nervous system responds to cues of safety and threat, and how this shapes our capacity for emotional regulation, social engagement, and attention.

There is a growing evidence base for SSP, with emerging research and clinical use suggesting benefits for anxiety, sensory sensitivities, and social engagement. It is widely used as a supportive intervention alongside therapeutic work.

How I work with SSP

I offer SSP both as both a standalone programme and as something that can be integrated into ongoing therapy.

When offered as a standalone intervention, I provide guidance, pacing, and support throughout the process, ensuring that it unfolds in a way that feels manageable and attuned.

When integrated into therapy, SSP can gently support the deeper work by helping to stabilise the nervous system, making it easier to engage with emotional and relational material as it arises.

As with all of my work, the pace and structure are led by the individual. Careful attention is given to ensuring that the process feels safe, contained, and responsive to your needs.

If you are curious about whether SSP might be a good fit, I am happy to talk this through as part of an initial consultation, where we can go through an intake form, access suitability and formulate a plan.
