The therapeutic agreement

Fees and payments

Fees are agreed in advance (info is listed on the fees section) and reviewed annually in line with costs and inflation.

I ask for first sessions to be paid in advance by online transfer to confirm the appointment.

From then onwards you are welcome to pay by online transfer on the day of the session, or by monthly invoice by the 1st of the month.

I hold some low cost spaces for those in receipt of income accessed benefits or without recourse to public funds - please ask if you would like to request this.

Cancellations

If we have a weekly slot agreed, that space is booked and held for you. I offer 4 pre arranged (7 days notice) cancellations per year without a charge (no more than 2 within a 4 week period) to allow for holiday/therapuatic breaks.

Alternatively, if on occasion you cannot make a session, I will try to accommodate rescheduling for a different time that week, depending on availability. In person sessions can also always be offered remotely where needed.

All cancellations with less than 7 days notice are charged in full.

If for any reason (for holidays or illness) I cancel the session, you will not be charged.

In certain circumstances, such as travel disruptions, extreme weather or training days, I may need to move in person sessions online. This is not something I would do unless necessary, but does happen on occasion. If this is not something you are happy with I may not be the right therapist for you.

Online sessions

When working online, I ask we create the same conditions as in the clinic room- that is within a quiet, confidential space and without distractions, and with a reliable internet connection. If these conditions are not possible we will have to end the session.

Confidentiality

As is required by the professional body I am registered with (BACP) and in line with their code of ethics and practice, all information pertaining to you is confidential, with the following limitations:

I discuss my therapeutic work with a supervisor - without revealing and personal data or identies.

If I need to record the session or use the content for ongoing training then I will obtain your separate consent.

There may be occasions the risk that you will harm yourself or others over-rides the duty of confidentiality and I would be required to contact a third party. For example, becoming aware of issues related to safeguarding children; if you are involved in a court case, the court may order that information about you is disclosed; if I have knowledge to suppose you might be involved in a crime under the terror act or if I am asked directly by the police about certain offences, I may be obliged to give them the information.

Your personal data is kept in paper record form and is securely stored for 6 years for legal reasons, after this date your data will be securely deleted. I will not share it with any third parties.

Engaging with third parties

I am happy to engage with third parties - such as housing, GPs, other health providers - with your written constent if this would support your care or access to other support. If the requirement is for a short piece of corespondance, such an email confirming your attendance I will not charge for this. If there is a request to write a more in depth report or letter, with your consent, there is a fee to cover the time spent preparing the letter, collaboration with yourself, amendments.

Covid 19 and infection

With vulnerable groups using the clinic and waiting area daily, I request you are mindful of coming in to the clinic for in person sessions if you are unwell - and instead request to move the session online.
